blueprint100’s Work in Progress exhibition

The Stove has a current gap in our programming for a period of one week for Room 2 in August that we would like to make available to Stove members as a potential short-term exhibitions space. This could be for a solo, or group exhibition. We are especially keen to hear from artists or groups who would like to use the space experimentally, to test out ideas or new works, and who consider or are interested in engaging the Stove’s community, and the wider High Street audience.

The space would be available for installation on Wednesday, 15th August – with the potential to hold an event or opening on Thursday 16th, and would be available for one week, with take down and removal of all artworks by the end of the day on Thursday 23rdAugust. Artists will be required to install and take down their own work, and Room 2 must be returned to its original state at the conclusion of the exhibition i.e. walls clean and unmarked by paint, fixings etc.

Members of the Stove are available to support artists during installation and take down, as well as with pre-exhibition planning and preparations if necessary.

Room 2 is the Stove’s second floor space, and is used flexibly for workshops, film screenings, meetings and discussions, performances and exhibitions. If you require more information about the space please get in touch.

Room 2 will be open to the public from 10am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday. The space will not be invigilated by The Stove, so if the works require constant invigilation, this must be organised by the artist/group involved.

The Stove can offer limited marketing support, including inclusion in our printed and online calendars, and social media platforms, and a small run of printed posters or flyers.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please send us a short introduction (max. 200 words) including:

  • An introduction to your work, or the group of artists you would propose to show
  • The mediums to be exhibited e.g. wall mounted canvas, video, sound, sculpture, installation etc.
  • Images of the work to be shown or similar work if new works (maximum three images)
  • Any weblinks showing your work/groups work

Final selections will be made based on the artworks suitability within the space, and our wider programme at this time. We are open to ideas from both emerging and established artists looking to use a space that is best suited to inquisitive, conversational and engaging works that can connect with our High Street location. Please note that you must be a member of The Stove Network to apply.

If you would like more information, or would like to discuss an idea with our team, please contact Katie by email Katie@thestove.org.

Expressions of interest must be received by 16thJuly 2018.
