The usage of the word ‘neighbour’ has been in a steady decline since the 1800’s.
Describe ‘neighbourliness’ in three words?
What would be good about living in the town centre?
Who or what else lives in the town centre?
What might a High Street community look like, in three words?
High Street Neighbours was a temporary installation on the façade of 100 High Street as part of the 2017 Guid Nychburris Festival and our ongoing Conversing Building project. Identifying a need to bring more of a visual presence to the High Street in the early evenings, High Street Neighbours saw six large banners draped out of the Stove building, an interactive sign board and a series of silhouette stencils designed by artist María Ruiz Plana, and created by participants in workshops in the run up to the event.
High Street Neighbours was part of a series of events at the Stove called TAKEOVER, inviting conversations around community activism and public space take over.
