EcoArt to Lead Nithraid Going Forward
We’re excited to announce a new chapter in the story of Nithraid, Dumfries’ beloved river festival.
After over a decade of creative stewardship by The Stove Network, the production of all future Nithraids will now be led by EcoArt, a grassroots charity connecting community, art and sustainability.
Why the Change?
Nithraid has always celebrated the River Nith’s rich history, diverse ecosystem, and its vital role in connecting communities. As the festival becomes independent from The Stove Network and refocuses on nature and sustainability, a transition that marks a natural step forward—one that aligns beautifully with EcoArt’s mission to embrace the transformational power of art for social and environmental justice.
What to Expect
Under EcoArt’s stewardship, Nithraid will continue to feature its iconic River Race, with the Salty Coo mascot still proudly leading the charge. But there’s more to come:
- Creative programming focused on nature and sustainability.
- Workshops and residencies that invite deeper engagement with the environment.
- Interactive activities for all ages at Mill Green and beyond.
